Legal & safety
Train safely, train often.
Last updated September 1, 2026
Martial arts are contact sports. This page summarizes the participation waiver every student, or their parent or guardian, signs before the first class.
Participation and injury
Grappling, striking, throws and sparring carry a risk of bruises, sprains, cuts and other injuries
Coaches adapt drills, but students should tap early and tell a coach if something hurts
Students or parents should share any medical conditions or injuries with the front desk before class
Health and first aid
Coaches are certified in first aid and CPR, and a first aid kit, ice packs and an AED are kept by Mat A. In an emergency we call 911 and then the contact listed at sign-up.
Supervision
Students under 12 must be dropped off and picked up inside the lobby by a parent, guardian or authorized adult.
